At the young ladies’ academy
This tour follows the journey of a young Ursulines’ boarder in 19th century Quebec City. From her entrance, greeted by the nuns, to her departure, diploma in hands, discover the experience of this young girl within the mysterious walls of the cloister, a place where nuns and students taught and learned, but also where they all lived together.
Through a lively interpretation of our exhibition, discover the living environment of the boarding school, its daily schedule, the subjects taught to the students, the specificity of the education provided by the Ursulines and, through this unique formation, the foundations of the history of women in Quebec.
Please note that we have developed a supplement to our guided tour for students in tourism and museum studies that addresses the different aspects of our institution: the place it occupies in Quebec City’s tourism industry, its array of cultural and tourist activities, its challenges and issues, the choices of presentation of the permanent exhibition, its future perspectives, etc.
